What is an Acupressure Mat?:
You may know these mats as Shakti or Prana mats. The design and concept is aliken to the bed of nails first developed in India. It was Ivan I. Kuznetsov who started the evolution of the bed of nails, with his self care mat design in the 70's, when he wanted to administer acupuncture therapy on himself. His first design was called the IPLIKATOR. An acronym of Russian words meaning in English: "Needle-like, Prophylactic, Healing, Activating, Toning, Providing Efficiency."
This is one of the most relaxing healing self care products we promote. This modern bed of nails of around 6900 teeth stimulates many acupressure points found along the back (but not limited to) by stimulating the largest organ of the body, our skin. We are mising out on so many healing opportunities when we take away physical touch. Our skin is experiencing "informational starvation" due to the use of clothing and our over controlled work and home environments. Stimulating the skin causes the secretion of many regulatory substances, which control physiologic functions.
In the 1980s Russian studies showed consistent pain relief for complicated fractures and concussions, reduction in surgical pain, reduced joint pain, improved respiratory function, and all with no side effects.
An American study of 200 users 98% reported pain relief, 96% reported relaxation, 94% reported improvement in the quality of sleep, and 81% reported an increase in energy level.
We like to think of this mat as a TRUTH SERUM bringing full awareness around the true state of our body. You will feel the sensations of the teeth in the first few minutes as the body is sends and receives messages in order for the body to start the healing process. After which the body will start to relax and do what it needs to do to heal and regenerate. This can be such an euphoric experience, it can bring up some deep seeded emotions and it can be a very calming experience too.
